Summary: In a group of 280 children after Nissen’s fundoplication on account of gastrooesophageal reflux in three patients an excessively tight cuff developed. The authors tried in three boys with a tight cuff which did not permit a free passage of food from the oesophagus into the stomach to avoid surgical revision by balloon dilatation of the cuff. After repeated dilatations in all patients the clinical problems receded and this improvement persisted after six months following the last dilatation. The authors recommend balloon dilatation as the method of first choice for treatment of tight cuffs after Nissen’s fundoplication on account of GER.
