Summary:
Objective: Review of distending media used in hysteroscopic surgery.
Type of study: Overview.
Setting: Institute for the Care of Mother and Child, Prague.
Methods: Analysis of data from the literature.
Results: The author reviewed the use of distendingmedia in hysteroscopic surgery with most serious
complication - fluid overload syndrom.
Conclusion: Fluid overload syndrome is a very dangerous and often underestimated complication
during hysteroscopic surgery which needs immediate and appropriate management.
