Heroin and pervitin (metamphetamine) are the most often used injecting drugs in the Czech Republic. While we have more possibilities of oral substitution in heroin addicts, oral substitution in pervitin addicts is not known in our country. High pervitin toxicity and many health and social complications show the neccessity to try substitution treatment of pervitin addicts too. We used available drug Ritalin (methylphenidate) which is used for ADHD syndrome treatment. The rules of the methylphenidate safe treatment are described.
