Summary:
The authors present a review of indications, contraindications and surgical procedures
in endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy (EDCR). The optimal indication for surgery are subsaccal and
saccal obstructions. The results of surgery are improved by resection of the medial concha and the
introduction of silicone stents, possibly anterior ethmoidectomy or locally administered cytostatics
(Mitomycin C). Septoplasty reduces the risk of development of adhesions in the nasal cavity.
Peroperative treatment does not differ from other endonasal operations. In the foregrouns are in
particular lavages of the nasal cavity with tepid mineral water.
