Pathological conditions are often caused by repeated micro- traumas and increased burdening of the joints which causes pain and subsequently irreversible degenerative and traumatic changes. Because the number of therapeutic procedures is increasing as well as differences as to the type of the assessed lesion, the demands on the accuracy of the diagnostic imaging of the shoulder joint increase also. The main part is played nowadays by CT and MR examinations, frequently after administration of a contrast substance. The authors describe the technique of examination and mention the main types of deviations.
