Intradural Extramedullary Spinal Tumors in Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Seidl Z. 1 , Obenberger J. 1 , Viták T., Peterová V., Daneš J.

Summary:

Although myelography and subsequent myelo CT are fairly accurate in topical diagnostics of extramedullary intradural lesions, they have disadvantages. It is an invasive procedure with additional risk of an allergic reaction due to the administration of contrast media. This method is insufficient in case of multiple pathological lesions. Magnetic resonance imaging provides more information by a completely non-invasive way because of multiplanar imaging possibilities and better contrast distinction of soft tissue and the possibility of repeated examinations without the risk of X-ray.

Key words: magnetic resonance imaging - intradural extramedullary tumors - meningioma - neuri- noma - epidermoid - dermoid - arachnoid cyst - leptomeningeal metastasis - lipoma - teratoma - spinal AVM
