Summary:
The authors present an account on their experience with the use of insular skin
flaps for the reconstruction of soft tissue defects in maxillofacial oncosurgery. This simple
method was used in twenty-two patients treated on account of dermal and mucosal carcinomas
of the oral cavity and face. Optimal results were achieved in particular in elderly patients with
a mobile and wrinkled skin.
