Summary:

       Noise as a stressor represents a possible risk for human health in even life. Pregnant women, born children and humans of all age should be protected. The papers deals with the problem with emphasis to non-hearing effects of noise. The noise disturbs, bothers, neuritizes and gradually damages human health. The problem is generally underestimated. The authors therefore drawattention to the importance of protecting children against noise, evaluate the extent of acoustic comfort at home and in the working environment with special emphasis to the problems in medical institutions.
