Summary:
Magnifying chromocolonoscopy is an endoscopic method
using optical or combined optical and electronical
zoom to more detailed examination of colorectal mucosa
in up to 80-150 times magnification. To further improve
contrast different dyes including indigocarmin, methylen
blue and cresyl violet are also used. The aim of the method
is pit pattern diagnosis, which helps to differentiate
in between hyperplastic lesions, adenoma and carcinoma.
The aim of our study is to determine a diagnostic
accuracy in the group of initial 191 examined lesions in
102 patients. The authors were able to reach sensitivity
of 86% and specificity 28% for diagnosis of neoplasia.
