Summary:
This work is aimed to support the opinion of the general medical public that strong opioids are
not medical foes, but very efficient and safe medicine if properly indicated and used in a suitable
drug form.
The work is structured slightly unconventional as well as the employment of strong opioids is
yet unconventional for treatment of chronic non-tumorous and in some cases, I am afraid, even
tumorous pain.
In the first part of the work, a case report is provided for one patient of our outpatient
department for chronic pain in the lower back who uses TTS fenthanyl and has gone back to
work.
In the next part, we ask several questions concerning the myths and superstitions adherent to
strong opioids, and we answer those questions immediately.
We continue with a case report of a young patient highly profiting by the employment of strong
opioids that were successfully discontinued when the ground for use had ceased.
