Summary:
A 1 3/4-year-old boy developed 35 days after the fourth dose of live attenuated poliovaccine a severe
paraparesis of the lower extremities with affection of the sphincters. The finding corresponded to
myelopathy with involvement of the lumbar and sacral anterior horns and severe residues persisted O
atrophy of the leg muscles and deformities of the feet. The author discusses the possibility of vaccine-
associated paralytic poliomyelitis (VAPP) or postvaccination incomplete transverse myelopathy.
