Summary:
The aim of the study was to evaluate success rate of stapedoplasties and comparision
of various types of surgery. Our own group of 208 stapes surgeries performed in the years realized,
while in 7 cases the type of surgery has not been specified. In a smaller group of 145 analysed
primary surgeries, tone audiograms before surgery, 3 months after surgery and one year after
surgery were compared. In both types of surgeries, maximum hearing gain in the air-bone gap
has been seen mainly in lower frequencies. Comparing stapedotomy and stapedectomy results,
statistically significant difference was present in hearing gains. During final evaluation, the overall
effectivity of both types of surgery was higher than 90%.
Key words:
otosclerosis, otospongiosis, stapedectomy, stapedotomy, piston, hearing gain.
