The authors acquaint with reasons and trends of monitoring the quality of life indicators in the cities. They participate in the search for and testing of the indicators of quality of life in the six cities (of hundred-thousand inhabitants) and their districts in the Czech Republic. Theresults of the investigation are presented with the use of 8 selected and 20 partial indicators for the cities, and 8 selected and 24 partial indicators for the districts. The evaluated cities together with their districts took up a position from the aspect of the citizen’s health standard in this order: Hradec Králové, Olomouc, Pardubice, České Budějovice, Liberec, Ústí n. Labem.
