Summary:

       Background: Physical activity positively influences the prognosis of patients with cardiovascular as well as other diseases. This survey of opinions and attitudes of physicians regarding physical activity as a means of health prevention monitors the role of physical activity day to day the lives of todays physicians the importance physicians attribute to physical activity in health prevention for their patients. The aim of the research was to determine if the approaches of physically active and physically inactive physicians differed, whether they recotnmend physical activity to their patients and whether they háve sufficient specia-lised information in order to prescribe physical activity in terms of the kind, intensity, length and frequency. Methods: A collection of 38 respondents, physicians from various medical specialisations from both the statě and private spheres with an age spectrum from 26 years of age up to 66 years of age (average 40). The KAB method, interview standardized, individual and neutral as a question technique, mathematical-statistical analysis of data, chí-square (5% level of importance). Results: 100 % physicians consider physical activity as an essential means of health prevention. Of sta-tistical importance is the differentiation in the approach of physically active and inactive physicians (p = 0.03) to the problém area of physical activity of patients, both in the framework of taking down personál čase histories, as well as in the area of prescriptions. Conclusions: Physicians attitudes regarding physical activity háve an essential importance for their own health as well as the health of their patients. Of statistical importance is the manner in which the approach of physically active and inactive physicians differs to the problém area of physical activity of patients, both in the framework of taking down personál čase histories, as well as in the area of prescriptions.
