Summary:
Presented review article brings the history of pancreatic transplantation in experiments and in the clinical
treatment of diapbetic patiens. Surgical methods and effects of successfull combined pancreatic
transplantation or transplatation of pancreatic transplantation alone on the metabolism of diabetic
patiens and on the micro- and macrovascular complications are discussed. Evaluation of the method in
the Czech Republic and in the world is presented.
