Summary:
The objective was to learn about the view of elementary school teachers about the effect of diet on
early development of atherosclerosis. The authors obtained answers from 387 subjects. This num-
ber included 317 women. All subjects were teachers and participated on a voluntary basis at
medical and-teacher sessions devoted to primary prevention of ischaemic heart disease and com-
pleted a questionnaire. The views of teachers were confronted with views of 816 urban and rural
families ans with results of investigations made in 686 subjects aged 12-14 years. The authors
obtained replies from which ensues that views that nutrietion is important prevention of atheros-
clerosis are held by a population group which influences in a major way views and behaviour of
children in elementary schools.
