Summary:

Stenotic process in internal carotid arteria (ACI) belongs to the most common arterial diseases.Matter of choice in the prevention of serious neurological deficit is ICA endarterectomy (EA). In the retrospective study authors describe results of eversion ICA EA performed in 56 patients. Control group included 92 patientswithEAachieved by longitudinal incision. Both groupswere significantly different in the time of ICA clamping (9 and 24 minutes respectively, p<0.001) and in the number of restenoses (2 and 9 respectively, p<0.05). New method of aversive EA with transversal arterial transsection can decrease occurrence of early and late complications.
