Summary: The authors present an interesting case-record. They operated a patient with the diagnosis of a gastric
tumour, according to the histological finding a phlegmonous gastric inflammation was involved. The operation
was subacute on account of gastric haemorrhage, the patient being in a dialyzation programme because of
chronic renal insufficiency. Acute phlegmonous gastritis is a rare disease, conservative treatment is fatal in
almost 100 %. The only solution is to remove the thus afflicted stomach. In the discussion experience of other
authors is discussed.
