Summary: Structured Abstract
Immune mediated defense against pathogenic microorganisms and maintenance of immune tolerance
to allogeneic antigens of sperm and fetus are main function of female reproductive tract
mucosal immune system. Specific mechanisms concerning development of mucosal vaccines to
sexually transmitted diseases and the immune regulation of fertility are reviewed in this article.
