LI 160 is a standardized extract of Hypericum perforatum L. The antidepressant effect of extracts of LI was proved in placebo controlled trials and by comparison with standard antidepressants in mild, medium severe and severe dopressions. It has a favourable profile as regards side-effects and is not cardiotoxic. With regard to induction of enzyme P450 interactions with drugs are possible, the latter being broken down by this system.
