The increased incidence of diseases of civilization, the rising incidence of oncological diseases and „ageing“ of the population lead to an increase of painful syndromes. Treatment of pain by therapeutic blocks of the nervous system must be guided in some indications by imaging techniques. In irreversible (neurolytic) operations control by imaging should be taken for granted. In the submitted review the authors give an account on the use of skiascopy, skiagraphy and CT by the algesiological consultation group in the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague.
