Summary:
The Slovak Codex Alimentarius are the executive regulations of the act on foods
(Act no.152/1995) and at present the valid part comprises eight chapters which
pertain to general terms, conditions of production and their release into circula-
tion. It defines the conditions of food labelling for consumers, microbiological
rerquirements, requirements as regards additives, packing and food processing
equipment, conditions for using ionizing irradiation of foods, criteria for special
foods (infant foods, dietetic foods, food supplements) and also criteria of correct
food processing. The Codex Alimentarius is consistent with regulations of the
European Union and is an important advance in health protection and promotion
of consumers.
