Summary:
The authors present a small series of patients with chronic hepatitis B, who were indicated for
therapy with lamivudin. On the basis of generally valid criteria (activity of aminotransferases,
virological markers, histology) a total of eight patients were treated. Presented are the continuous
and final assessments of the treatment. The authors consider lamivudin therapy, in the
small series, to be successful in as it had led to a decrease in the activity of aminotransferases
and to the arrest of virus replication. After a period of one year the results do not seem to be so
impressive.
Key words:
chronic hepatitis B - lamivudin - seroconversion.
