Summary:
The authors present results of the surgical treatment of
injury of anterior cruciate ligament in patients over 40
years of age. Surgery was performed by the arthroscopic
technique. Autograft was used as the graft material in all
knees (patellar ligament, tendon of semitendinosus or
gracillis). Seventy-eight patients underwent operation.
Fifty-two patients were reviewed one year later. Each
patient answered questionare and was evaluated by examiner.
The assessment indicates, that one patient did not
achieve a satisfactory results. However, this surgical treatment
is indicated, because the patients are able to
return to active live style.
