Summary:
Cyclic vomiting syndrome is a child as well as adult diagnosis. Prevalence of the syndrome in childhood is 1.9%.
This syndrome is identified by the occurrence of three or more episodes of intractable nausea and repeated
vomiting, sometimes with accompanying symptoms; there are completely asymptomatic intervals between each
episode.Various organic gastrointestinal, neurologic and metabolic disorders must be excluded before the diagnosis
is made. In this article, possible causes, pathophysiological ways, course, clinical approach and therapy of various
phases of the syndrome are discussed.
