We describe a computer system for small laboratories that uses inexpensive PC technology to provide a low- cost, easy to learn and simple to use system designed for small labs and independent commerc ial laboratories. The system can be run on a single PC (for small labs O nearly 100 patient order requisition per day) or on a network to meet needs of larger labs. The system can be expanded when a laboratory increases in size. It manages the workflow of lab orders from ordering to reporting and serves to increase productivity, cost, effectiveness, and to improve quality of service. A key characteristic of the system is that virtually all data parameters are definable by the user for the highest degree of flexibility. The system is run under Windows.
