The authors describe an uncommon finding of proctitis cystica profunda in a 48-year-old patient who was sub- jected ten years previously to haemorrhoidectomy by Whitehead™s method. An important etiological factor in the described case is ischaemia of the pertinent section of the rectum with development of postoperative sta- nosis. So far the authors did not encounter in the literature a description of proctitis cystica profunda after haemorrhoidectomy.
