Summary:
Because there is no precisely defined examination method of standing on two scales and differences
as regards the interpretation of results in the literature (Lewit, Véle, Gúth) the authors evaluated
factors which may play a part in the test and attempted to verify values of physiological lateral
difference as regards burdening in the healthy young population, using a standardized procedure.
The result of the investigation made in 68 young people with a normal kinesiological finding led to
suggestions for a standard procedure in examinations of the lateral symmetry of burdening of the
lower extremities. Investigations of standing on two scales were compared with examinations on
tensometric platforms AMTI OR 6-5.
Analysis of the results revealed that examination of standing on two scales using mechanical digital
scales SOEHNLE is as regards accuracy comparable with examination on tensometric platforms
and is satisfactory even using a single assessment. All examined subjects burdened their lower
extremities asymmetrically (without preference of one extremity within the investigated group) with
a mean difference of approximately 4 % body weight.
