Summary:

During scintigraphy of the skeleton using 99m Tc-MDP the authors proved hypertrophic osteoarthro- pathy in a female patient with inoperable bronchogenic carcinoma. The osteoarthropathy was the maincause of skeletal pain. The scintigraphic picture of the skeleton bore typical signs of the process which differs from focal changes suspicious of a metastatic process. After corticotherapy pain receded and there was also partial regression of scintigraphic signs of hypertrophic osteoarthro- pathy.

Key words: hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy - whole body bone scintigraphy - 99mTc-MDP - metastases
