Summary:
A survey, which explored attitudes of the Czech public towards epilepsy and epileptics, was based on
a modified questionnaire used in 1949 in the USA and repeatedly from 1968 in the Federal Republic of
Germany. In the Czech Republic, the survey was evaluated for the first time in 1981 in the Southern
Moravian region, and in 1984 in the Southern Bohemian region. Responses to the survey in 1997O98
were classified into categories according to age, education, sex, and domicile.
