Summary:
The objective of our research was to evaluate whether in chronically dialyzed patients cognitive
disorders develop, whether these disorders are connected with dialyzation treatment, and its
length and the patients’ age, whether in the possible psychopathology also the social background
and mental state of the patient participate. Using standardized tests of the Mini Mental State
Examination. Clock Test and Social Adaptation Questionnaire, the authors examined 62 chronically dialyzed patients from the dialyzation department of the First Medical Clinic, Faculty Hospital Plzeň. No connection between the duration of chronic dialysis and the development of
cognitive functions was confirmed.
