Summary:

Bone defects of the alveolar process are most frequently induced by progressing atrophy after the teeth lost.Pathological bone processes, tumors and traumatogenic bone lost, also cause them.Classification of the bone defect extent predetermines choice possibilities of treatment methods.Traditionally, either auto transplantation of bone grafts or augmentation with nonresorbable materials gives the most successful results. Results achieved with distrac tion of bone segments are most promising, especially if dental implants are inserted subsequently. Both guided tissue regeneration and bone cements no more than complete these above methods appropriately. It is necessary to manage extensive plastic adjustment of soft tissue,as well. All the above treatment methods ground on a long-term tradition of preprosthetic surgery in our clinic.
