Summary: Conclusion from the report: Helicid (omeprazol, Léčiva Co.) combined with two antibiotics (amoxicillin, clarit-
hromycin) after 7-day administration proved in a multicentric methodically well designed and properly moni-
tored study to have a very satisfactory eradication effectiveness (93.4 %) and high percentage of cured peptic
ulcers (nearly 90 %). These results are consistent with the very satifactory results of extensive international
randomized multicentric studies (e.g. Mach I.). This treatment proved safe (insignificant and few undesirable
effects) and is very well tolerated. The patients’ co-operation was very good, only 9 (7 %) had to be eliminated
because they did not meet the conditions of the study. Nobody had to abandon the study because of undesirab-
le effects. The study was consistent with all essential ethical aspects. The one-week eradication therapy of H.
pylori by Helicid combined with two antibiotics in gastroduodenal ulcer can be described as treatment with
a very favourable final effect and as well tolerated and safe treatment.
