Summary:
Levels of tumor markers (CEA, CA 19-9, CA 15-3, CA 72-4, SCC, CA 125, PSA, AFP, CYFRA
21-1, TPA and NSE) can be used for monitoring the course of cancer.We have no serummarkers
for the diagnosis of cancer. Levels of serum tumor markers cannot replace an anamnesis and a
good investigation of patients and, of course, endoscopic and visualization methods, we can use
them for the detection of progression. Except for PSA, there is no test of tumor markers
recommended for diagnostic or screening investigations.
