Summary: Summary: The authors submit their own clinical experience with 103 overall facetted links of 38 dentures in a group of 26 patients treated using the Artglas-Siloc (Heraeus-Kulzer) facetting system. The overall facetted crowns and bridges were made and followed up in 1997 to 2000. In the described group of patients 70 facets were made on a skeleton of silver-palladium alloy Palliag M2 (~gussa), 23 facets in combination with gold-palladium alloy Aurix L (Safina) and 10 facets on a skeleton of cobalt chromium alloy BNF 2000 (Elephant). The investigation was focused above all on impaired retention and changes of the facet surface. During the follow up period 17 times retention of the facet was lost, 15 times in silver-palladium dentures and twice in Aurix dentures. No loss of retention of the facet was recorded so far in dentures made from BNF 2000. Changes on the facet surface were recorded already within one year of their use.In all facets the lustre was lost,82 facets had within 18 months enlarged occlusion blocks visible by the bare eye and 15 facets were abraded to the surface of the skeleton. The results of the clinical trial did not confirm adequate resistance ofArtglass against abrasion. The Siloc link without mechanickl retention was not reliable. After some time Artglass dentures lack aesthetic parameters of metallo-ceramics.
