Metastases of Thyroid Carcinoma into the Calva Bohutová J., Kolář J., Němec J. 1 Klinika radiodiagnostiky IPVZ, FN Na Bulovce, Praha, |
|
Summary: The authors draw attention to the tendency of thyroid carcinoma to develop secondaries in the
bones of the calva which may be „signaling“ metastases: they draw attention to the hitherto not
revealed presence of this primary malignant tumour. When map-like destructions are found with
spicular periostal reactions due to detachment of the periosteum from the lamina externa gradually
enlarging due to a secondary deposit, it is important, in particular in elderly women to include the
thyroid gland among organs suspicious as a possible source of dissemination.
