Summary:
Tuberculosis disease in the area of head and neck has been an uncommon disease in
this country. Epidemiological situation has recently changed, since certain groups of population
suffer for increasing incidence of the disease. The clinical picture has changed, and new diagnostic
possibilities came out. The authors present a survey of microbiology, histopathology and diagnostics
and describe clinical pictures of mycobacterial infections in the area of larynx, middle ear and
mastoid process, nose and neck nodes. The paper draws attention to the role of otolaryngologist in
early and sometimes difficult diagnosis of tuberculosis affection in ORL area.
