Objective: To evaluate influence of hormonal contraceptive drospirenone on premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Design: Overall summary of literatuře. Author affiliation: ADC Sanatorium, Praha. Methods: Review of scientific studies and publications. Conclusions: The author submitted current opinions on premenstrual syndrome, its classification, and tre-atment. The role of renin - aldosterone systém in the genesis of PMS was described. Basic pharmacologi-cal characteristics of the remedy containing in one pili 30 mg of Ethinyl Estradiol (EE) and 3 mg of drospi¬renone are presented. Its therapeutic effects on somatic and psychological PMS symptoms are discussed.
