Recent information about cannabinoids, cannabiniod receptors and their relation to psychosis, especially to schizophrenia are summarized in this work. Some historical and epidemiological notes are also presented. Recent knowledge about possible function of cannabinoid receptor system and about its relationship to the development of psychoses or to relapse of psychoses is reviewed. The first information about possible therapeutic applications in connection to the new information in this field is mentioned.
