Summary:
The article deals with the research of the manifestation of pain in neonates, with pain assessment and
comparison of two methods of taking of capillary (arterialised) blood. The objective of the research was to find
out, how pre-term infants respond to the prick during blood sampling (for blood gasses or glucose tests) in routine
operation of neonatology departments. Whether there is a difference in perception and manifestation of pain when
pricking in the finger and in the heel and whether administration of glucose, pure water or use of pacifier prior to
and during the intervention really influence perception and intensity of pain.
