Summary:
This reviewdeals with differential diagnostics,pathophysiologicalmechanisms,examination algorithm
and treatment options for sudden falls, while emphasizing the neurological perspective on this
interdisciplinary topic.More extensive coverage is provided for syncopes of various etiology (vasovagal,
syncopes in orthostatic hypotension in central and peripheral dysautonomias, cardiac syncopes). Next,
differential diagnostics of sudden falls from other etiologies is dealt with, focusing on certain types of
epileptic seizures that can imitate syncope.
