Objective: Review of findings on pathological conditions with raised prolactin levels. Type of study: Overview. Setting: Gynaecological and Obstetric Clinic, Faculty Hospital Olomouc. Methods: Analysis of data from the literature. Results: The author reviewed the most frequent physiological conditions with raised prolactin levels, drugs producing hyperprolactinaemia and pathological hyperprolactinaemic conditions, their possible diagnosis and treatment. Conclusion: The author summarizes findings on prolactin and the effect of prolactinaemia in women and an analysis of the most frequent causes.
