Summary: The paper deals with a group of 157 patients followed for the period of four years in view of the
relation of concentrations of BNP or NT-proBNP to overall mortality. In the introduction the
authors describe their experience with natriuretic peptides; their own data follow. The Kaplan-
Meier analysis of probability of survival proved to possess a strong predictive efficiency of the
concentrations of BNP or NT-proBNP for overall mortality of the observed cohort.
