The paper presents incomes of the main categories of medical personnel in the year 2000: physicians, stomatologists,pharmacists and nurses based on official statistical data of theU.S.A. The median of net incomes before taxes was (in thousands of dollars) 165 in physicians, 129 in stomatologists, 71 in pharmacists and 45 in medical nurses. The paper also analyzes factors influencing the level of income in medical occupations. Attention is also devoted to methodical problems in comparing the level of income and comparing the income of medical personnel in Czech Republic with that in the U.S.A.
