Summary:
In 36 patients the diagnosis of intracranial meningioma was established by computed tomography
(CT) and/or magnetic resonance (MRI). All patients underwent diagnostic angiography and embo-
lization with fluid embolic agents: a solution of Histoacryl or Ethiblock with Lipiodol. The aim of
this work was to study the efficacy of fluid embolic agents for preoperative devascularization. These
agents proved adequate for preoperative embolization, without intra- or peritumoral bleeding and
without serious adverse events. In one inoperable patient embolization was done as a palliative
procedure.
