Summary: Poor results of inter- and intraexaminer reliability of movement palpation for sacroiliac movement
restriction are quoted from the literature. This is followed by an analysis of the shortcomings of the
current diagnostic techniques.
In 64 patients a new sign was tested and first compared with a set of 3 – 4 routinely applied tests
which confirmed its reliability. The interexaminer reliability was tested in 33 patients (66 s.i. joints)
and found to agree in 82 % (kapa = 0.68).
