Summary:
Crohn’s disease is characterised by malnutrition not only in acute phase. Nutritional deficiency is closely connected
with various metabolic disturbances. It is known, that various acute diseases may be associated with hypocholesterolemia,
which is connected with poor prognosis of critically ill patients. Moreover, lipids may play important role in the course of
Crohn’s disease. Due to these facts, it is important to understand evident and possible connections between alteration
of lipid metabolism and clinical manifestation of Crohn’s disease.
