Presented is a case of a disecting aneurysm of the thoracic aorta in an 85-year old female, manifested by chest pain, short-windedness, and hoarsness as the major clinical symptom lasting for an extended period of time. The authors discuss the diagnostics and therapeutic options of disecting aortal aneurysm with references to their own observations. In this case , upon Consulting the heart surgeon, conservative therapy was chosen in view of the patienťs multiple morbidity. The authors consider this case to be relatively unusual, námely in that the primary clinical symptom of a lar- ge aneurysm of the thoracic aorta was hoarseness, the diagnostics of which on prolonged duration (over 3 weeks) should be paid appropriate attention to in clinical practice, including the generál practitioner
