Summary: Muscle stiffness has in principle two components – neurophysiologic and viscoelastic. The former
can be identified by electrical activity measured by EMG, the latter by certain resistance when
stretching the muscle. The proportion of the two components depends on the actual condition of the
muscle. In this paper various reactions of an electrical activity of a muscle during stretching is
described.
