Summary: Glomus tumor is a relatively rare benign tumor of soft tissues manifesting with spontaneous pain and
sensitivity to pressure and cold. In an atypical localization, it usually leads to considerable diagnostic
difficulties. Authors present case of a 52-year old male with two-year history of pain in the area of m.
quadriceps femoris caused by a glomus tumor in an atypical localization. Radical surgical excision of
the tumor was curative and the patient has been without pain for one year. The present case demonstrates
a possible forever etiology of chronic pain. The authors are not aware of any previous reports
of intramuscular occurrence of glomus tumor in the Czech literature.
